Monday 9 July 2012 These are all moments from my Monday, always a busy day juggling many balls: this one not so successfully I'm afraid.
My abandoned attempt at a tidy up of the lounge.
A cubby house in one of the little people's bedroom's. These are a standard feature in our house and are usually not restricted to the confines of the maker's bedroom. Number 3 is the biggest culprit. If all is quiet on the Western Front you can be sure there is a cubby house under construction somewhere.
I've saved the best to last.
When all else fails in my parenting bag of tricks (not very big) I send my little people outside with the command "do something constructive". Got that one from my Mum. It's good right???
This photo demonstrates my children's understanding of what "something constructive" means: a boogie board, a hose, a huge volume of water and some blue ink from a pen found on the ground. Note carefully the blue ink stain on the sandstone on the bottom left hand side of the picture. Post doing "something constructive", that blue ink was marched right through the house on the soles of little feet and the tips of little hands as if that was the most normal thing in the world to do. I guess I need to provide a little more direction on the "something constructive".
